Drink Cocaine

Showing a combination of business savvy and poor taste unrivaled in recent memory, Redux Beverages of Las Vegas have brought out a concoction "350% stronger" than Red Bull called Cocaine.

Targeted towards partiers, Cocaine dispenses with the vague promises of the healthful and regenerative effects of energy drinks and zeroes in on the "rush" of energy, which is formulated to mimic that of it's illegal namesake. Adding to the effect, the manufacturers have included a mild anaesthetic, which numbs the mouth and throat just like actual cocaine. Crafty huh?

While the drug- i mean drink- was distributed to positive reviews during Fashion Week in NYC recently as part of the manufacturer's savvy launch strategy, it's drawing fire from influential conservatives upset with the romanticization of a devastating and illegal stimulant. Joseph Califano of National Center On Addiction and Substance Abuse, a prominent combatant in the long-running War on Drugs has publicly criticized Redux Beverages and calls Cocaine an "insidious product...clearly aimed at children and teen partygoers." Despite the criticism, Cocaine plans to be available at select Manhattan hotspots, including Stereo, which hosts parties from influential DJs including Mark Ronson and The MisShapes. Already available in Vegas, the legal Cocaine may prove just as hard to get rid of as it's illegal Colombian namesake.
