The FCC helping Howard Stern!?

02/06/2006 08:17:00 PM
In an ironic twist, Howard Stern and Sirius Radio have approached the FCC and asked for help. First reported in the LA TIMES, UK-based industry tip-sheet CMU DAILY is reporting that the satellite broadcaster and shock jock are up in arms over rampant bootlegging and rebroadcasting of Stern's program via P2P networks, pirate radio stations, and renegade websites. Available only to paid subscribers of Sirius' service, Sterns broadcasts have become a popular item on many P2P networks, prompting the often profane shock jock and his new employer to call in the big guns at the FCC to help put a stop to the shenanigans. What this story tell us about the future of paid satellite broadcasting and piracy remains to be seen.
