In the meta-obsessed world we live in, it's hardly surpising that somebody ultimately stumbled across this novel and fairly fascinating idea: to plagiarize around 20 sources to write a scathing indictment of plagiarism.
On the occassion of the Kaavya Viswanathan plagiarism scandal, which has seen her book How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild and Got A Life yanked from bookstores across the globe, New York Magazine has published a piece written by film critic David Edelstein which is almost entirely ripped off from other sources, ranging from print publications like the Weekly Standard to blogs.
New York Magazine spokespeople have stated: "The idea is that we're putting the piece out there and seeing how long it will take anyone to notice."
